The person who is totally new to the home business and internet marketing industry will consider review sites as resources that are created for the purpose of satisfying their due diligence efforts.
Those of us in the know realize that the main reason people create review sites is to get targeted traffic in a very easy manner, and to make affiliate sales for recommended products…
Once a reader of a review satisfies their 5 minutes of due diligence by reading one or 2 or maybe even 3 reviews… then they take the common consensus/opinion put forth by those reviews and absorb it as truth… (usually the product is recommended).
but…
Why would anyone spend time putting together a review site unless it is to eventually sell something?
Writing honest and unbiased reviews in an altruistic manner (expecting nothing in return) doesn’t feed your family…
The review sites business model is an effective one, but where most people go wrong with their review sites is they think only of the money to be made.
The review site owner will either trash everyone except his/her own products for sale on the site, or recommend everything on every review written since their business model is to write reviews only on products they recommend.
Like in anything you do in life and business the middle, moderate ground must be found in order to present a legitimate opinion to your site visitors.
Again, I realize that there is only so much time in a day and as a review-writer and review-site owner you can’t review every single product out on the internet.
As a reader of reviews, you need to understand what is going on in the background when you read a home business or internet marketing product product review.
The reason I wrote this post is because it is far too easy to manufacture trust from the “innocent” site visitors.
All you have to do is say…
“I review products for a living, and these are the ones I recommend”
The biggest issue I have is that some “legitimate home business” review sites are recommending outright fraudulent programs or selling ebooks that are absolute trash…
How do I know this?
Because I used to do it, that’s how…
Well, let me explain that for a bit…
I used to sell an ebook off my review site mentioned at the beginning of this post but the sales page for the product was far better than the product itself and resulted in the highest refund rate for any ebook I had ever sold in massive quantities!
I honestly thought the ebook was a good product but the #1 most pressing concern for me was whether or not the buyers were happy with it… and they weren’t.
There comes a time in the wanna-be internet marketers career where just about any ebook has some sort of valuable insight that can be gleaned for the ebook text.
For me, there were some valuable insights in the aforementioned ebook, but I stopped selling it because the people weren’t happy…
On the other hand, I have sold thousands of copies of my own online marketing guide ebook and have only had 1 refund requests in the 2+ years of selling it.
In my online marketing guide, I revealed a method by which I made $10,000.00 in about one month and also delivered 8 videos and 12 audios explaining various other tools people needed to make thier businesses work.
Review site owners must create fair and balanced content if they wish to have a long-term business and to establish a good reputation and good branding for themselves if they plan on repeat business and marketing to people more than once.
