Great post, Dan.... as always. It's so comforting to know that there are still marketers out there marketing with integrity.
I only ever recommend products that I've tried and tested personally- I actually wouldn't sleep nights if I thought I was making money in a less-than-honest fashion. Pity there aren't actually more of us like-minded marketers out there - helping fellow humans has always been my number one goal in life, making money out of doing so is a bonus.
Keep up the good work :)

Dan, maybe that Ally you're talking about is GOD. You're right, human allies usually disappear when the going gets tough. Always been that way, always will be that way. Every one is my friend and beautiful women were hanging all over me when I had a lot of money and good health. Guess what happened when the fortune went away? The phone never rang, sat around all by myself with no help. Funny how that works isn't it?

If you're a guru making a lot of money everyone is your friend. If things go south, the 'friends' disappear very quickly.

Daniel McGonagle is definitely a marketer or guru that newbies and developing internet marketers should be following to succeed fast in making money online and get saved from all the hype.

A book titled “Newbie Internet Marketing Information Overload...” at “http://www.tradebit.com/filedetail.php/96927946-newbie-internet-marketing-information-overload” even recommends McGonagle as one of the best Internet marketers or gurus that deserve to be following.

Hi Adrianne, if you're not confident in the MLM distribution model then you'll never do well with it. You need to believe in the leveraging power of MLM and Network Marketing if you want others to believe in you, and you need to believe in yourself as well.

Make things work for you online first, then demonstrate this to your friends and family but always remember that entrepreneurial types are few and far between and most people you know personally will not ever fit that bill, no matter how much you make or how much you can prove you make.

I will be sending out an email soon about a program I am heavily involved and and is sure to do well for us and our team, and it's free to join so risk-free. We will then train our people and establish co-op campaigns so people can leverage all the hard work we're doing now.

You can read my MLM Network Marketing training blog for some solid tips to get you on the right track http://mlmnetworkmarketingtraining.org

Hope this answer helps some,

Dan

Hi Dan,

I am still very skeptical about MLM marketing. I have done so much research that I am on overload. I am new to a business and have never owned a business. I would like to market as many people as I can from the internet because family and friends are unsupportive. I sell women's nutrtional supplements, body garments that make people drop 2-3 sizes. Can you advise

@samson,

Well said on your part and I've always have been the same way. Flavor of the day marketing just bugs me to no end, and is why the typical internet marketer has such high turnover rate, or low response rate with their lists.

If we're not teaching people to think for themselves then we're not really trying to help them, are we?

My goal with affiliate marketing in the "make money online" niche is to work hard to help people, then reap those benefits in all fashions (income, gratification, satisfaction with self etc...)

However, anyone who's failed or think they've failed with internet marketing DOES have something to share, their experiences (Footprints in CyberSpace) so don't give up on those sites yet, just write for your imaginary or real readers and be real.

Thank you for the feedback, writing this posts might have taken me a week, but it's paid off for me immeasurably time and time again! :)

Great post Dan. It feels great to know that they are still marketers out there with heart. Marketers who will not sell their soul for a pot of gold. I am so glad i met you and because of this article i will pay more attention to you. The truth is, we share the same beliefs and values. I have never been comfortable with the idea of recommending products that have not been tried and tested. In my book that is really crazy, criminal. And the idea of faking it until you make it is equally devious. I once had a professional looking blog with quality informations that centred around affiliate marketing. I was meant to give tips to people on how to make money with affiliate marketing. But subsequently i dropped the whole thing because i knew my action will be deceitful. I have never made a dime in affiliate marketing, so how can i give sound advice that will really people, not rob them of their hard earned cash. But it is a shame, many marketers do this again and again. And how can people attain success online when it is a case of the blind leading the blind. Marketers who has not achieve any success online putting on the robe of a Guru, teaching people how to be successful online. Internet Marketing is riddled with too much deceits. Integrity should be the watchword.

@Jonny, thank you for the feedback, and I'm happy you're on the road to online biz-person and evolving out of the newbie/info-overload stage.

It seems that success, and the road to success, is always a battle of the mind; ridding oneself of bad habits, and just moving forward, adapting, evolving, getting better at everything, expanding your horizons, finding hidden talents etc....

Nobody can reach inside another person's head and tell them they're ready/not ready to have an online business, nor tell people to get off the lists that never really did anything for them.

The lists that I am on change drastically from month to month as I enter new fields on interest and concern, and the only worthwhile list to be on is one that is serving you well right NOW, or in the very recent past.

Hey Dan,

great post! I have been reading your posts now for many months and the info you produce has given me a better understanding on building my business online and along with setting realist goals and taking action to reach them i am starting to see results. I have a fair way to go before i am comfortable with my monthly income but i can now see that its possible.

At one point i was signed up to an embarassing number of 'Guru' lists to now being on just 3, with yours being one of them. The hours spent reading the fluff out there is now put into something productive and it shows.

Thanks for the value you give Dan and please keep it coming!

Lee, thank you for YOUR input.

The hidden lesson here that might apply to you is...

you need to stop reading and start doing so you walk alone for a bit and gain some personal experiences with all of this

Hi Dan

I found you're article to be very informative & thanks.
At this point in time I'm at the study stage of my endeavors for marketing.
I'm reading until my eyes can't take anymore, it's been my experience that good things in life don't come easy.
I'm a retired carpenter & most of this is new to me, as not something one would need in my line of expertise, it's a whole new world for me & will take some time before the little light comes on above my head & I can say so, that's how it's done.

Thanks again & keep up you're output of information.

I have been playing around the net and blowing a lot of money on here without getting any good information, and wasting time, I should've been learning to outsource as well to do the things I don't know how to do.... but now it's time to get doing as well as thinking....
Hi Jess,

thanks for the offer and for calling me out on my grammatical errors.

The post you read is actually a copy that I was able to retrieve from cached search engine listings. The reason I posted the cached copy is that it was the only back up I had, and it still needs work as you so kindly pointed out.

Another thing to realize is that today's ebooks and blog posts are not written in trade journal or "normal" grammatical fashion because it's a different style of writing. This is the "web" not hard-cover Amazon/library books that are being read.

You can talk or write up or down to your audience, but the most important thing to do is to write TO them and FOR them.

Case in point:

The word ally was capitalized to emphasize the importance of the Ally that is always by your side. My Catholic school teachers from grammar school and Xaverian brothers who taught me in high school would definitely mark that capitalized letter with a red pen for incorrect punctuation (capital letter in mid-sentence but not for a proper name).

Your point about using "with regards to" versus "in regard to" is well-taken, although not a point many readers would take issue with. I do believe that the last finalized version of this very long post prior to the server crashing had that corrected.

The point about parable versus story has merit. You are correct on that point as well. Parables are stories told to emphasize a point or lesson. Splitting hairs whilst overlooking the lesson is not beneficial though, so I hope whoever reads this gets the lesson I meant to convey.

Mis-spellings and punctuations happen all the time as you can see by your comment above where you mis-spelled swop (it's spelled swAp) and benficial (it's spelled benEficial).

Point being... you meant well with your comment and I meant well by writing the post. I will correct it when I have time (it's a long post!).

Thank you,

Dan

How about a mutually benficial swop? I'm a journalist and can correct your errors in exchange for you getting me a website. then i can fix things like saying the "Footprints in the sand" is a parable. It is not - (parables are Biblical stories), it is only an illustration used in Christian circles to make a point. Using the word Ally is also wrong. With a capital A it suggests confusion with Allah. In the traditional illustration, God or the Lord is the one whom you call Ally.
A lesser point but still an error is when confusing "with regard to" and "with regards to". The only time that "with regards to" is correct is when you mean passing a greeting to someone e.g. with regards to your parents. Otherwise its with regard to (without the s). Is the swop a deal?

Hi Eva, thanks for reading the whole thing, it was a bit long...

I've been around for a while and made most of the same mistakes other people have made, but you just gotta realize there's no cheap magic bullet and that it basically all comes down to doing what the majority of others are NOT doing.

Good content + site monetization + traffic = Income $$$

How may I help you?

As we are in a real estate slump, I'm looking for ways to support myself online. I think I first found you on the warrior forum. I've done a lot of reading, searching, etc. Most of what I find is junk and hype. Somehow, I think you ARE the real deal. I enjoyed reading the whole thing :-). Now,all I need is some money...
