Right now there is a presidential race going on in the United States. Candidates are trying to get their party’s “nod” of approval to represent their party for when a new president is chosen.

As the race moves forward, more endorsements come in. The “old guard” waits to see which candidate looks the strongest, and as time progresses the “heavy hitters” endorse one candidate over another for certain reasons.

Usually, the reason they wait to give an endorsement is to see which candidate has a better chance of winning.

Now, let’s compare this to joint venture marketing.

If you want joint venture partner, you’d better have a good chance of converting their visitor into a sale, i.e. winning the sale.

You’d better back up what you say in your campaign speeches, i.e. your product better deliver what the sales page promises. If I were approached for a joint venture proposal, I ask to review the product, and review the sales page, too.

This is done offline and online. Now, unless you do a ton of networking, joint ventures don’t mean that much to you. For most people that market online, the majority of their sales come in from their own efforts.

The point here is to look at how business is conducted offline to better understand how business is done everywhere.

Political endorsements are like JV mailings.

There are lots of back-end deals that take place and the truth of the matter is the more you can offer in return for an endorsement/joint venture mailing, the more apt you are to get joint venture partners.

It also helps if your product doesn’t compete with theirs. Just some points to ponder when trying to get joint venture partners.

Some other tips for doing jv mailings, ad swaps, and cross-promotions.

Offer a reciprocal mailing, and offer your product for free to get a review on it.

Don’t expect a yes from everyone, and expect to “kiss a lot of frogs” before you land a few joint venture partners.

Be polite (we’re busy, just like you), and sometimes it helps to go ahead and promote their product before they give a “yes” or “no” answer.

Once they see that you’ve made consistent sales for their product, they’ll definitely take notice and will give you the time of day.

This is business, and that’s the way it works.
